no pets policy – Therapy Dog- how do I get landlord to accept?

I have bipolar and would like to get a dog for companionship. How do I get my landlord (through a property manangement company) to allow me to? I would be willing to pay an extra deposit and even more for rent each month. Any suggestions?
I know there is a federal law about it. By the way…I have bipolar 2…which is depressive, not so much manic…and I have had pets before, so am able to adequately care for them. I am new to Wyoming and don’t know where to look for bylaws and such.
And I would want a small breed dog, which I would litter train.

If you have a proper medical condition, go to your doctor and get them to write you a note that you need a companion animal. Your landlord legally has to let you have a companion animal if you have a doctor’s note.
